PostDoc in TU Delft for Optical Diffraction Tomography for Tumor Histology

Job Description

The goal of this project is to produce detailed 3D images of biopsied clinical tissue samples using optical diffraction tomography (ODT), which can aid in clinical diagnosis. The project will entail studying the biochemistry of optical tissue clearing, imaging relevant tissues with an existing setup, conducting proof-of-concept experiments on large tissue samples, comparing results with conventional histology, and translating the findings to a clinical setting. The research will be conducted at both the Department of Imaging Physics at Delft University of Technology and the Pathology department of Erasmus Medical Center, with Dr. Jeroen Kalkman supervising the tomographic and microscopic imaging aspect and Dr. Martin van Royen supervising the clinical-oriented tissue processing aspect. This project is part of a larger initiative to encourage medical technology innovation and collaboration between clinicians and technologists, and is part of the Cancer Diagnostics 3.0 program.
