University of Science and Technology Beijing
The University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) was an institute that focused in iron and steel technology is one of the most prestigious universities in China. It is a national key university which is highly considered in the research of metallurgy and materials science, and even it is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University.
In the year of 2021, the USTB offers scholarships in both masters and doctoral degrees with fully-funded scheme. International applicants are welcomed to apply for the scholarships that include tuition fees, medical insurance, accommodation expenses, and living allowance.
Duration and Coverage
The scholarships that are offered are fully-funded scholarships with the inclusion of tuition fee, accommodation, living allowance, and insurance. The coverages are:
- Master Degree: 2 or 3 years
- Doctoral Degree: 4 years
- Elementary Chinese course: 1 year (Applicants who apply for Chinese-medium programs are required to take elementary Chinese course, if only has HSK4, not HSK5)
Criteria and Eligibility
To be considered as the applicants, the international students must be non-Chinese citizens in a good physical (health) conditions. Then, they must:
- have bachelor degree and be under the age of 35 for Master Applicants
- have master degree and be under the age of 40 for doctoral applicants
The requirements of language is compulsory for Chinese-Medium Programs with level HSK4 or above, whereas the English-Medium Programs (for applicants from Non-English Speaking Countries): IELTS 6/ TOEFL 80/ Official English Proficiency Certificate
Application Procedure
To apply as the applicants, the candidates must apply via online (onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn) or (campuschina.org). No need to send hard copy. For the required documents are:
- Application Form of Chinese Government Scholarship (www.campuschina.org) Program Category Type B, Agency Number 10008
- Apply online and pay application fee (onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn)
- Degree Certificates in Chinese or English (Bachelor and Master). Remark: Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date, then submit the degree certificate later if admitted.
- Transcripts in Chinese or English (Bachelor and Master) up to the present, including courses taken and standard achieved.
- A Personal Statement in Chinese or English, above 800 words for master, and above 1500 words for doctorate
- Two Recommendation Letters, including contacts, must be the Original in Chinese or English. The referees should be professors or associate professors, who have knowledge of your academic background
- Requirements of Language. Chinese-Medium Programs: HSK5 for Master, HSK6 for Doctorate (if applicants provide HSK4, they shall study 1 year Elementary Chinese course). For the English-Medium Programs (for applicants from Non-English Speaking Countries): IELTS 6/ TOEFL 80/ Official English Proficiency Certificate
- Photocopy of Passport (Ordinary Passport)
- Health Certificate
- Letter of Financial Guarantee
- Certificate of None Criminal Record
- Acceptance Letter from supervisor
- Table of contents and abstract of your academic publications and any other original achievement in your field
