Ghent University Top-up Grants
The Ghent University, a top-100 globally-recognized University, is a public research University established in the city of Ghent, Belgium in 1817. The university is one of the top-third university in the country of Belgium after KU Leuven and Free University of Brussels.Ghent University provides Top-up Grants (it is used to be named as Master Grants Ghent University) to international candidates who are originated from the countries of the OESO-DAC list, who wish to continue their master's degree at Ghent University. The programmes are offered for any disciplines provided by the Ghent University.
Requirements of Top-up Grants
The applications are available for international students on the longlist of the OESO-DAC country list. Since the scholarships are on master programmes, there are two types of master programmes offered by the Ghent University:- Initial master programmes (ManaBa)
- Advanced or subsequent master (Manama)
Initial master
The requirements are:- Holders of an appropriate Belgian academic bachelor degree
- Holders of a foreign university bachelor degree or higher education bachelor diploma
- In some cases, applicants cannot be admitted directly to a master programme, but they have to do a specific preparatory or linking course (between 45 and 90 ECTS credits) firs, depending on their previous studies
Advanced or subsequent master
- Holders of an appropriate Belgian master degree (ManaBa)
- Holders of a foreign university master degree or higher education master diploma
- Most advanced master programmes only accept applications from holders of a master diploma, certain programmes may accept a bachelor of minimum 4 years
Top-up grants awards
Each year, 10 scholarships can be awarded, and the scholarships will cover:- 1000 euros per month of allowance
- All-in insurance (health, civil liability, repatriation)
Top-up Grants Application Procedure
For applying the scholarships, you cannot apply yourself for this Top-Up Grant. There is no application form to fill in. The programme you would like to study at, decides which top-student applicant will be in their top 3 list. If you want to stress the need for such a top-up grant, you can contact the study program to motivate why they should take you up in their shortlist of candidates. If you are on that list, you will get a notification of that.There is no open call for these grants, they are now incorporated in the normal application scheme to obtain admission. Only academically admitted students will be considered. The application for academic admission should be submitted before 01 March according to this procedure. You can no longer apply to study at Ghent University and you cannot be considered for the topping up grant if you apply for admission later than 01 March 2020.
