About the Scholarship/ and University
The University of Canterbury is New Zealand’s second oldest university which was founded in 1873 as Canterbury College. The university has a main campus of 76 hectares with three libraries. This university has been globally recognized for its research agreement, including the cooperation fin the Southern African Large Telescope and the member of IceCube collaboration in installing a neutrino telescope at the South Pole.
The University of Canterbury then offers scholarships to International students. This scholarship recognises and supports top-achieving international students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury. The scholarship is currently awarded with values of NZ$10,000, NZ$15,000 or NZ$20,000. Up to twenty-five scholarship may be awarded.

Requirements
Recipients must be full-fee-paying international students. Applicants may not be:
- The citizens of New Zealand or Australia; Permanent Residents of Australia; or holders of New Zealand residence class visas.
- Applicants must be completing, or have completed on or after 1 January of the year before the year of application, a university entrance-level qualification that permits entry into a University of Canterbury undergraduate degree programme. Such students who are undertaking, or have competed, a programme at the UC International College are eligible to apply. Applicants, by the closing date for the round in which they are applying, must have applied for admission to the University. The scholarship is not tenable by students who have already undertaken partial study in an undergraduate degree programme at a New Zealand tertiary institution.
