International HDR Main Scholarships at Macquarie University in Australia


About the Scholarship/ and University
Macquarie University is a public research university based in Sydney, Australia, in the suburb of Macquarie Park. This university was founded in 1964 by the New South Wales Government, and it has five faculties. The Macquarie University is the first university in Australia to fully align its degree system with the Bologna Accord.

2020 International Research Training Program scholarship (iRTP) and International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship Program (iMQRES) are offered to International Applicants around the world. The main scholarship round for international candidates is the International Research Training Program (iRTP). The International Research Training Program is the Australian Commonwealth Government Scholarship scheme for supporting international higher degree research candidates.

Applicants applying for an iRTP will be automatically considered for the University funded International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (iMQRES) in the same round.
Applicants should select International HDR Main Scholarship Round as the Scholarship type in their application.

Requirements

Awards will only be available to applicants meeting the Eligibility and Selection Criteria who: (1) are citizens other than Australia/ New Zealand, and not Australian Permanent Residents; (2) have already completed or expect to complete a research Master degree in 2019; (3) are enrolling as full-time students; (4) will undertake a Masters of Philosophy or Doctorate in 2020; (5) intend to reside in Sydney, Australia during their award tenure, unless on approved overseas research leave.

You must satisfy all the criteria for admission to Macquarie University.

If you are seeking to establish eligibility for a scholarship, you are encouraged to provide full documentation of your achievements to assist in the assessment of your qualifications. Other relevant research qualifications which may be considered include:
  • Completion of a research Masters degree or equivalent e.g. a coursework Masters with a substantial research component (you will be asked to provide information on your thesis abstract, length, grade, examination process and the percentage of research component in the course)
  • Published research (preferably in refereed publications: Journals, books, book chapters etc)
  • Conference presentations (preferably refereed)
  • Highly relevant and substantial work-related research experience.
Awards/ Grants
The successful iRTP candidates will receive: (1) Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum; (2) Stipend (tax exempt, index annually, 2019 rate AUS$27,596 pa); (3) Travel concession (applied to local transport OPAL Card)

The successful iMQRES candidates will receive: (1) Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum; (2) Stipend (tax exempt, index annually, 2019 rate AUS$27,596 pa)
