The University of Canterbury is the second oldest university in New Zealand which was founded in 1873. The university is one of the best universities in New Zealand, and it has been ranked as top 200 global universities in certain faculties such as in Social Science (94th) and Engineering (161st). University of Canterbury is the first New Zealand University that has been granted five stars by the QS Stars.
The University of Canterbury is offering the scholarship with the name of UC International First Year Scholarship. This scholarship recognises and supports top-achieving international students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury.
RequirementsRecipients must be full-fee paying international students. Applicants may not be: (a) Citizens of New Zealand or Australia; (b) Permanent Residents of Australia; or (c) Holders of New Zealand residence class visas.
Applicants must be completing, or have completed on or after 01 January of the year before the year of application, a university entrance-level qualification that permits entry into a University of Canterbury undergraduate programme. Such students who are undertaking, or have completed, a programme at the UC International College are eligible to apply. Applicants, by the closing date for the round in which they are applying, must have applied for admission to the University. The scholarship is not tenable by students who have already undertaken partial study in an undergraduate degree program at a New Zealand tertiary institution. Awards/ GrantsFinancial aid positions will be awarded worth up to NZ$10,000, NZ$15,000, and NZ$20,000
