Victoria University of Wellington is a university in the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington. The university is well known for its programmes in law, the humanities, and some scientific disciplines, and offers a broad range of other courses. Victoria University of Wellington has been recognized globally as part of world’s top 500 universities.
Scholarships are offered by the Victoria Tangiwai Scholarship to support academically-strong school leavers to study at Victoria and recognises them as New Zealand’s scholars of the future. These scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit, equity, leadership, and commitment to community. These scholarships will be offered to the top school-leaver applicants enrolling in any of Victoria University’s Bachelor degree programmes.
Requirements
Scholarships will be awarded competitively on the basis of academic excellence with leadership and commitment to community taken into secondary consideration. Applicants must be in Year 13 or have completed Year 13 in the year prior and be taking a gap year to be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit, equity, leadership, and commitment to community. Scholarships are valued at NZ$5,000 for the first year of study which can be put towards accommodation costs at a Victoria Hall of Residence, or as a stipend to contribute towards your first year living costs.
Application Process
Applicants should apply for a Victoria School Leaver Scholarship, successful applicants will then be awarded one of three different scholarships based on their application data. A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30pm on 02 September 2019 for study in 2020. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation must also be received by 4:30 pm on 02 September 2019 in order for application to be considered. - Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents or International fee-paying students who have completed at least two full years (ie. Their Year 12 and Year 13) at the time of application.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 50 excellence credits from Year 12 (or an equivalent level of achievement in an alternate qualification).
- Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in the year of following application in their first undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington.
