Post-doctoral fellowships at University of Texas in the USA for 60 international candidates, 2018-2019

Study in the USA. 10 dissertation fellowships and 50 post-doctoral fellowships are offered for international applicants for studying at University of Texas in The US. This opportunity is offered by the Harry Ransom Center for doing research in academic year of 2018-2019. This opportunity is available for international students with area of research in humanities including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music and cultural history.

Scholarship’s programme levels: The fellowships are open for students who want to undertake research project at the University of Texas at Austin.

Scholarship’s study subjects: As the aim of this scholarship is to support research in topic of humanities, hence the subjects are in literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.

Scholarship’s grants: The fellowships will be covering following aspects:
  1. One to three month fellowships US$3,500 per month (Domestic) and US$4,000 per month (International Candidates): One-to three-month fellowships are available for post-doctoral or independent scholars whose projects require extensive work with the Ransom Center’s collections.
  2. Travel Stipends US$2,000 (Domestic Candidates) and $2,500 (International Students): Travel stipends are available for post-doctoral or independent scholars whose projects require less than one month’s work with the Center’s collections. Travel stipends may not be combined with other Ransom Center fellowships.
  3. Dissertation Fellowships US$2,000 (Domestic Candidates) and US$2,500 (International candidates): Dissertation fellowships, generously supported by the Creekmore and Adele Faith Charitable Foundation and The University of Texas at Austin Office of Graduate Studies, are available for graduate students whose doctoral dissertations require use of the Center’s collections.
Scholarship’s offers: For academic year 2018-2019, total 60 scholarships are available with 10 dissertation fellowships and up to fifty of post-doctoral fellowships for projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections.

Scholarship’s requirements:
  1. Eligibility requirement: The applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: (1) the fellowships are open to scholars of any nationality; (2) Pervious recipients of Ransom Center fellowships are eligible to reapply after two full fellowship cycle have passed; (3) One-to three-month fellowships and travel stipends are open to scholars with a PhD or with a substantial record of professional achievement, demonstrated on their curriculum vitae. If the PhD is in-progress at the time of application, the proposal and letters of recommendation must clearly indicate completion by 1 June 2018. Successful applicants must complete the PhD this date in order to accept the fellowship; (4) Dissertation fellowships are open to doctoral candidates engaged in dissertation research by the time of application; (5) The fellowships are open to scholars of any nationalities.
  2. Application requirement: Applicant must have previous degree and there is no test requirement
  3. English Language Requirements: Proof of English Proficiency, if applicable – students whose native languages not English will be required to submit one of the following as proof of English proficiency: (1) an internet-based TOEFL IBT score at least 89; (2) IELTS 6.5. All the English proficiency depends on higher level required by the University.
  4. How to Apply: The proposal and required letter(s) of recommendation for 2018-2019 fellowship applications must be submitted through the Center’s online application system. A complete application consists of a three-page proposal and one or two letters of recommendation as outlined below. These materials must be uploaded to the Ransom Center’s online application system as PDF files by the application deadline. To begin your application for a 2018-2019 fellowship, create a fellowship account. Upon successful creation of your account, you will receive a fellowship account number, which you must use to submit your proposal, and which your referee(s) must use to submit the required letter(s) of recommendation. Please not that information cannot be revised once submitted. Previous applicants for Ransom Center fellowships must create a new account for 2018-2019, as accounts from previous applications cannot be reused.
Scholarship’s deadline application: the application will be closed on 15 November 2017. The candidates are encouraged to submit the required documents before that day to prevent unexpected situation.
