PhD student position in New Materials Concepts for Stable Organic Solar Cells

An opening for a Ph.D. student position is currently accessible within the research team led by Christian Müller at Chalmers University of Technology's Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. We are in search of a deeply motivated Ph.D. candidate who will be dedicated to pioneering fresh ideas for organic solar cell materials. Your research endeavor will be financially supported by the Swedish Research Council. You will collaborate closely with multiple Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers at Chalmers, along with counterparts from various Swedish and international universities. This role will provide you with the chance to travel, attend conferences, and visit laboratories at other academic institutions.

PhD Project Description

The bulk of your work hours will be dedicated to conducting your independent research, in partnership with fellow students and postdoctoral researchers both at Chalmers and in other universities within Sweden and internationally. As a Ph.D. candidate, you are anticipated to cultivate your unique concepts and effectively convey scientific findings through verbal presentations and written documentation. Additionally, approximately 10 percent of your time will be allocated to departmental responsibilities, with a specific focus on contributing to undergraduate-level teaching.

Qualification

The ideal candidate should possess a Master's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (or be in the final stages of obtaining one). Proficiency in organic electronics is a prerequisite, while familiarity with organic solar cells is advantageous. Given the interdisciplinary character of the role, strong collaborative abilities are expected from the candidate.

Furthermore, a high level of proficiency in English for effective scientific communication, both verbally and in writing, is essential. If Swedish is not your native language, Chalmers provides Swedish language courses to facilitate language proficiency.
