Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD Scholarships for International Students Provided by Croatian Government for intake 2018-2019

Study in Europe. The Croatian Republic government throughout the Ministry of Science and Education provides scholarships for international students who want to continue their study in undergraduate, master, and PhD programs in the universities based in Croatia. The scholarships are offered through the Agency for Mobility and EU Programs which focus to the help for foreign students, professors of higher education institutions as well as research fellows. The scholarship will be taken in Croatian institutions of higher education or research.

The scholarships are offered through bilateral and university bilateral agreements and through programs such as Erasmus Mundus Scholarships and CEEPUS administered and organized by the Agency for Mobility and EU Programs.

Scholarship’s programme levels: the scholarships are available for anyone who want to pursue undergraduate study, graduate programs, PhD programs, postdoctoral programs, and summer courses

Scholarship’s study subjects: These scholarships are offered to study the subjects that are provided by the Croatian Higher Institutions or Universities

Scholarship’s grants: The scholarship’s award is covering following things:

  1. 1For Undergraduate and Graduate Students: (1) 600 HRK for monthly allowance; (2) subsidized accommodation in the student dormitory; (3) subsidized meals at student restaurants
  2. Full PhD or partial PhD studies longer than 10 days: (1) 1,800 HRK for monthly allowance; (2) subsidized accommodation in the student dormitory; (3) subsidized meals at student restaurants
  3. Postdoctoral studies or research longer than 10 days: (1) 1,800 HRK for monthly allowance; (2) subsidized accommodation in the student dormitory
  4. Short research stay (3-10) days: 150 HRK per diem and subsidized accommodation in the student dormitory
  5. Summer course (2 weeks): Tuition-free course, free accommodation and meals

Scholarship’s requirements:
  1. Eligible Countries: Scholarships are open to foreign students
  2. Entrance Requirements: The following scholarships are available in the 2018/ 2019 Academic Year
    • Undergraduate and Graduate for One semester studies for students of Croatian Language abroad: Undergraduate (BA/ BSc) and graduate (MA/ MSc) students, especially those majoring in Croatian Language and Literature, as well as graduate students working on their theses. Before application, students are required to have completed a minimum of two semesters at their home institutions. Candidates for this scholarship are nominated by the Croatian language fellows at higher education institutions abroad.
    • Undergraduate and Graduate for Semester/ partial studies (3-10 months): Undergraduate (BA/ BSc) and graduate (MA/ MSc) students. Before application, students are required to have completed a minimum of two semesters at their home institutions.
    • Undergraduate/ graduate studies: Only candidates on the basis of a valid/ effective educational co-operation programme, namely candidates from China and members of Croatian minority in Hungary, Romania, and Slovak Republic.
    • Full PhD Programme (36 months): The Scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam/ admission to the respective postgraduate (doctoral) study programme.
    • Partial PhD studies (up to 12 months): Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme at an accredited institution of higher education in his/ her home country or in a foreign country (but not in Croatia).
    • Postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 Slovak Remonths): Applicants must have a PhD or an equivalent degree.
    • Research visit (3-21 days or 1-10 months): For associate or higher ranking professors or for researchers holding minimum a PhD or an equivalent degree, for carrying out a research at one of the accredited Croatian research institutions.
    • Summer course in the summer of 2018 (2 weeks): The scholarship is granted for Zagreb School Assistants with a PhD and teaching/ research assistants who teach Croatian language and literature at foreign universities, experts who specialize in Croatian Studies in different research institutions, as well as translators of the Croatian language. A minimum level of language competence is B1 according to the common European Framework of Reference for Languages (it applies to understanding, speaking and writing). A preference will be given to candidates with a level of the Croatian language competence B2 and higher.
  3. Age limit: (1) For undergraduate and graduate studies scholarships, candidates age must not exceed 25 years; (2) for postgraduate studies scholarships, candidates age must be below 35 years; (3) for postdoctoral scholarships, candidates age must not exceed 45 years; (4) also, there is no age limit for summer course and research visit scholarships in Croatia

Scholarship’s deadline application: the application will be closed on 16 March 2018. The candidates are encouraged to submit the required documents before that day to prevent unexpected situation.
