Physics' Questions Are Unbelievable Nonsense

The chemical solution can produce a carbonated liquid
Long time ago, my friend asked me about what is the point in learning this problem. He referred the Stoke’s principle about falling ball in a liquid with certain density. Throughout the related natural forces occurred to the experiments which are the gravity and Archimedes’ principle, would we find this problem at work field in the future?

Well, it was not completely either correct or incorrect. At that moment, we encountered our first midterm examination during our first year at university. It was about the fluid mechanics so we studied about the interaction among particles, fluids such as liquid or air and the forces involved on the phenomenon. Apparently, my friend’s question was out of our mind because the question unbelievable happened. Here is the question more likely:

Imagine you drink a carbonated beverage in a glass of bottle with a cylinder shape and the height is about 15 cm. After drinking the carbonated liquid, the height of it is reduced and became 12 cm. And the bubbles on the bottom of the bottle inside the liquid start to elevate in certain height. Assuming the density of the liquid is x and the volume is y. You should analyze the speed of the bubbles start elevating and determine how much the velocity?

Did not it obviously ridiculous for a first year student physics even though they realize what is happening to the bubbles, did it? What would happen to our life if we were able to determine the velocity of bubbles elevating?

Honestly, at that time I did not really care about his questioning. I only cared about giving a good analyzing with a structuring answer so the lecture can give me a good score. Although I thought like that, but I was not able to get good score at that subject and the lecture gave me a C+ (I really do not know what is the conversion of C+ in your country). But, the point I made this article is about what are the beneficial things when we study physics with some sort of question similar or exactly the same to above.

This is the proof that physics is not merely about equations. Instead of answering the problem throughout related equations, we were intended to analyze the problem so we can come up with a solution. However, at my country, studying physics always and always relates to the equations and as a result we were forced to remember all of the equations. Was it a harsh situation for us because as a child we must have seen the world as something fairy tales even though we were in senior high school. Maybe some of you who read this article will have thought about how about we erase the physics subject in schools’ curriculum.

So, enough chit chat!!! What is the point of the lecture gave us a question problem in our midterm examination? Find out soon on my next article.
