Fundamental Physics: Heat and Temperatures

Talking about heat and temperatures means understanding the real-world. For indonesian, the word heat and temperatures are a bit difficult to distinguish as the first talks about the energy, sometimes spoken in calor, while for the latter is about the measurements, the number. Arguably, the term temperature is definitely about how we measure the heat energy appears in the system and try to understand how can heat affect the dimensions of matters (solid and fluids).

In this topic, scales in measuring the temperatures are also discussed. This includes Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin as three of them respectively are being used in the international community, US system, and International Unit (SI). The word thermometer is used and defined based on the thermodynamics law.

This topic also covers the thermal expansion both in solid and fluids (especially water). In solid expansion, we will find linear, two and three dimensions of thermal expansion, which varies due to the atomic composition of materials (from metals to nonmetals, from monoatomic to complex elements). Of course, water is part of this but, how exactly this fluid absorbs heat energy, and what happen to it after receiving energy. Please feel free to access the teaching materials below:
