PhD Project
Prof. Dr. Ilija Čorić's research group is looking for a Ph.D. Student candidate. The group performs research in two directions:
- spatial anion control for mild and site-selective C–H activation (see J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2020, 142, 19040. and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2022, 61, e202205470.)
- directional ionic bonds for supramolecular and materials chemistry (see J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2023, doi: 10.1021/jacs.3c01030.)
We are seeking candidates who have an interest in either of these subjects. Depending on the chosen area of focus, the PhD student will have the chance to acquire expertise in various areas, including catalyst and ligand design, multistep organic synthesis, coordination chemistry (including the synthesis of highly reactive compounds), transition metal catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, and the chemistry of organic materials.
PhD Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor/Master in organic or inorganic chemistry and possess a good knowledge of English language.
What we offer
- opportunity to work in different areas of chemistry as listed above
- training in the experimental techniques by Prof. Čorić
- new labs and a new chemistry building offer excellent infrastructure and equipment
- highly international environment
- teaching experience by supervising BSc students in practical lab courses
- supervision of BSc and MSc theses
- additional opportunities to gain experience in computational chemistry (see the publications listed above)
How to apply
Employment starts on 1st September 2023. Applications must include a cover letter, CV, research summary, transcripts of grades, and contact details of referees (all in pdf format).
