GMIT Scholarships for Non-EU Students in Ireland

Galway-Mayo Institute Scholarship



The Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) was an institute of technology, located in Galway, Ireland. In April 2022, it was formally dissolved, and its functions were transferred to Atlantic Technological University (ATU).

The GMIT offers international students who are interested to continue their studies in undergraduate, or postgraduate programmes. These scholarships are available for Non-EU students in term of tuition fee.

Scholarships Eligibility

  • Eligibility Countries: Students of all non-EU countries are eligible to apply
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Undergraduate or postgraduate programs at GMIT can be applied for
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/ given criteria:
    • Applicants must be non-EU country nationals accepted in any undergraduate or postgraduate programme at GMIT
    • Supporting documents such as:
      • High school transcripts
      • Third level transcripts
      • CV/Resume
      • Recommendation letters
      • Copy of passport
      • English language requirements

Scholarship Benefits

Scholarships are available for Non-EU students, as a bursary to the value of up to 30% of non-EU fees. Non-EU fees for academic year 2022/2023 are:
  • Undergraduate Programmes - 9,950 euros
  • Postgraduate Programmes - 12,000 euros
If you are a Non-EU student thinking of applying to study in GMIT then you may qualify for a GMIT scholarship in recognition of your English language attainment, your country of origin, or both. These bursaries are reviewed annually.

The bursaries are also offered in form of English Language Attainment Scholarships with 15% of reduction. Please see this LINK for all English Language Assessment accepted for the purpose of admission. Please note we will accept the equivalent of the IELTS score listed, in other English Language Assessments for the purpose of gaining a scholarship.

The GMIT also offers scholarships to Non-EU students depending upon their country of origin. They are:
  • Foundation, undergraduate, or postgraduate (countries with a GDP of $5,000, or less) would have bursary value for 15%
  • Foundation, undergraduate, or postgraduate (countries with a GDP of less than $20,000 per year but greater than $5,000) would have bursary value for 10%
  • Foundation, undergraduate, or postgraduate (countries with a GPD of greater than $20,000 per year) would have bursary value for 5%

How to Apply

Students are required to apply to the programme of their choice via the application portal of the university. Non-EU applicants will automatically be considered. Applicants are required to have a high school of education and a bachelor's degree to be admitted at GMIT and also fulfill the entry requirements of the university.
