About the Scholarship/ and University
Bayer is a German multinational pharmaceutical and life-sciences Company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. The headquarter is located in the Leverkusen, where its illuminated corporate logo, the Bayer cross, is a landmark. Bayer supported its first young scientist back in 1883, and ever since that year, the Bayer Group has been promoting the sciences with a systematic approach that comprises both financial and conceptual support. Scholarship programs and awards for outstanding research were central components of this work from an early stage. Thus, the Group offers many of the awards such as Carl Duisburg scholarship program and Otto Bayer Award.

The Bayer Foundation is offering an international program in scientific and medical disciplines. The studentships are granted to students and young professionals from Germany wishing to realize a study or research project abroad or to international students/ young professionals in pursuing a project in Germany. The goal of the Bayer program is to support the next generation of researchers and teachers as they engage in “Science for a Better Life”.

Requirements

The candidate should have a very good command over the English Language. Entrance requirements must be met by the applicants, as the course level which is up to years after graduation, a study or research project could have been taken in both in or outside Germany. The field of study subjects are life sciences, medicine, agro sciences, biology, chemistry educators, and apprentices. To be precise, the study subjects are explained as follow:
  1. Life Sciences are including biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and computational life sciences (Application in the Otto Bayer Scholarship)
  2. Medicines are human and veterinary medicine, medical science, medical engineering, public health, and health economics (Application in the Carl Duisburg Scholarship)
  3. Agro Sciences are agro sciences, agronomy, crop sciences, green biotechnology, environmental sciences, and sustainability (Application in the Jeff Schell Scholarship)
  4. Biology and Chemistry Educators are Biology and Chemistry study which is up to Master’s degree level (Application in the Kurt Hansen Scholarship)
  5. Apprentices are non-academic professions which can be assigned in the area of healthcare, technical or scientific occupations, and business administration (Application in Hermann Strenger Scholarship)
Awards/ Grants
The Fellowship Program consists of five programs that offer tailored financial support. Important requirements for the support must be innovative and international. The studentships are granted to students or young professional differently from each scholarship.

Application Process
The application process is done by online. All applicants should have a high level of commitment, dedication and innovative project plan. The following application documents are required for the Otto Bayer, Carl Duisburg, Jeff Schell, and Kurt Hansen scholarships:
  • Confirmation letter form the foreign host institute/ university on the planned project.
  • A description of the project with duration of 2 to 12 months as well as the financial plan within the proposed timeline.
  • Most recent transcripts.
  • Any additional documents that would enhance the application.
  • Job application photo (it is not the photo of your passport).
