The Best Way in Keeping Your Mind Healthy

How can we nurturing our brains?
It has been a million dollar question that dementia could have been avoided or not. As the human’s body gets older, then the organ functions perhaps could be slower than before. Some people believe that, the human’s organs are just like the machine, the older you have, then the slower will the machine run. So, are there any ways to keep our brain works in a long time? Yes, there is, and the answer is maintenance or in other words nurturing!!!

How the brain gets to slip?
Studies conducted by the scientists have reported that averagely in the age of 45, some important brain regions start to shrink. And these parts are those related to memory, attention, and perception which lead to the decrease of cognitive abilities. As a result, we could find that where the keys were placed, or finding difficulties during explaining mathematics to our children. Although this condition is naturally occurred as we get older, there are many things that we can do to slow this condition.

The best way to nurture your brain!

Flex your mental muscle. The brain is often likened to a muscle, and for good reason: give it a good workout and it will stay strong. To do that, we must find several activities that can train your cognitive abilities, such as playing some kind of musical instruments or learning a new language. Those two activities must have been very difficult to do in older-ages, but those are not impossible to do.

Get moving. As it is mentioned earlier that our brain is similar to muscle, so that it needs to be nurtured and trained. But there is one biological factor that is needed to be considered, and it is a brain-derived neurotrophic factor. In neuroscience field, this chemical is called as brain fertilizers stimulating the creation of neurons in the hippocampus, and this helps the brain to consolidate memories throughout the establishing connections.  In addition to obtain this chemical, physical exercise can help to increase the production of this chemical.

Look after your ears. People with mild hearing loss are more likely to develop cognitive issues. A neuroscientist found that impaired hearing hinders people’s ability to remember information they have just heard. It is because hearing involves extra concentration, so that people with impaired hearing are more concerned about focusing and recognising the words rather than remembering those words. So, protect your ears by keeping the volume down when watching the TV or listening to music, even short bursts of loud noise such as at gigs can damage nerves in the ears.
