Sauna bathing performs certain heat to the water creating transfer energy in form of convection to the human body. Scientifically speaking, scientists and researchers are still wondering about the benefits resulted after sauna bathing. Until Finnish scientists from the University of Eastern Finland found the reasons behind the benefits.

Scientists from the University of Eastern Finland found that the sauna bathing reduces your blood pressure, while at the same time increases vascular compliance. These results are based on the study involving of 100 tests of subjects. Meanwhile, the study also found that heat energy caused during the sauna bathing increases heart rate similarly to medium-intensity exercise.

As warm-blooded living organisms, human being regulate the temperature biologically. This natural mechanism impacts the cardiovascular system implying to the blood circulation and pressure, and blood pumped from the heart. The addition of outside energy theoretically affects the body, and if the heat energy is exposed in long-term condition, it will cause health problems, for instance dehydration. But some studies reported the opposite results, regular sauna bathing actually reduce risk of coronary diseases, sudden cardiac death, hypertension, Alzheimer disease, and dementia. And other studies also reported that frequent sauna bathing could reduce the risk of respiratory problem.

According to the study, the scientists found that after half an hour sauna bathing, the systolic blood pressure of the respondents reduced from 137 to 130 mmHg with diastolic decreased from 82 mmHg to 75 mmHg. The most interesting thing, both systolic and diastolic blood pressure remains stable for the next thirty minutes after sauna bathing. This implies to the reducing of risk of hypertension which can lead to heart attack. Although during sauna bathing, the body's temperature is actually higher two centigrades than in normal condition, the study found that the heart rate increased similarly to medium-intensity exercise. This means that sauna bathing does not provide high impact to the heart rate even though we feel differently.

The study which is published in the Journal of Human Hypertensio implied to that sauna bathing actually is similar to regular physical exercise which can lead to healthy lifestyle. Based on the study also, sauna bathing improve the cardiac system, so it can decrease the risk of heart problems.
