The shape of the earth is spherical |
In understanding the geographical aspects of the Earth, there three important aspects that students must understand. They are the circumference, the spherical form, and the hemisphere. These three properties cause the earth to conduct astronomical events such as the rotation which makes natural activities.
The circumference of the earth is the diameter of the Earth itself. Scientists consider the spherical form imperfectly so the word diameter is not suitable. So, the circumference is considered as the equator which accounts for around forty thousand kilometers. Interestingly, because of the shape of the Earth is not perfectly spherical, it generates the ellipsoid shape with longitude lines throughout either on the northern and southern side. However, the Earth is wider that its high creating two conditions. The distance of the circumference at the equator around 40,000 kilometers while the diameter is around 12,700 kilometers.
The hemisphere is the term that is used to explain the two exacts areas. These two areas are the southern and northern divided by the equator, and Prime Meridian. The division of these two equators also helps the geographers to understand the differences between these two areas particularly in aspect of ecology and ecosystem. These two areas end along in Arctic and Antarctic continents respectively in the north and south bordered from the north and south circle.
To conclude, the shape of the Earth which is spherical imperfectly generates the differences in areas. The northern and southern parts of the Earth differ to each other particularly in the environmental condition.
